Trump approval ratings hit historic lows amid economic concerns

President Donald Trump is facing declining approval ratings across various demographics and regions as midterm elections approach. A Financial Times poll conducted by Focaldata shows his national approval has dropped to 33%, a historic low for the series. This decline includes a drop to 72% among Republican voters, with only 53% approving of his management of the economy and employment.

Regional polling indicates similar trends of dissatisfaction. In California, a Public Policy Institute of California poll found Trump's approval at 27% among likely voters, amid widespread pessimism regarding the state and national economy. In Iowa, Trump's net approval sits at -17, with 60% of residents disapproving of his handling of the economy and 61% disapproving of his management of the Iran war.

Economic concerns, specifically the cost of living and inflation, appear to be primary drivers of this dissatisfaction. In Iowa, 69% of residents view the economy negatively, while in California, 73% of likely voters anticipate poor economic times ahead. These trends suggest significant challenges for the Republican Party in maintaining congressional majorities.
