Trump approves federal disaster aid for Missouri and Mississippi counties

President Donald Trump approved major disaster declarations for Missouri and Mississippi, unlocking FEMA assistance after severe weather events. In Missouri, the declaration covers 34 counties affected by flash flooding, tornadoes and straight‑line winds from June 4‑18, 2026, authorizing Public Assistance for repairing roads, bridges and other public infrastructure. Governor Mike Kehoe said the aid will support ongoing recovery across the state.

In Mississippi, the declaration makes residents of four counties—Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River and Stone—eligible for Individual Assistance, while Public Assistance will address infrastructure damage and debris removal in eight counties following Tropical Storm Arthur in June. Governor Tate Reeves thanked the administration for the support, noting the aid will help families and communities rebuild.
