Trump asserts Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, according to a post on his Truth Social platform.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reported that Iran has not yet received a definitive response from mediators regarding the conditions proposed for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi noted that while he has observed conflicting statements from President Trump, Iran is awaiting a formal reply through intermediaries to determine its next steps.

During a visit to the United States for the UN General Assembly, an Iranian delegation submitted seven conditions via Qatari mediation to facilitate the opening of the Strait. While President Trump has indicated that Iran's terms were not accepted, Araghchi emphasized that Iran remains open to diplomacy and has not closed the door on negotiations, though the country will not compromise on the rights of its people.
