Trump calls China equal as US Pentagon blacklists Chinese firms

The US Department of Defense released an updated blacklist that names about 80 Chinese companies it says have ties to the People’s Liberation Army. The list adds major tech and automotive firms such as Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent, BYD and chip‑memory producers ChangXin Memory and Yangtze Memory. US Representative John Moolenaar warned that the list warns American firms against doing business with the companies, while Beijing protested the designations as unfounded, with the named firms denying any military role and threatening legal action.

At a summit in Beijing, President Donald Trump declared the United States and China to be a "G2" of equal powers and promoted a "strategic constructive stability" in bilateral relations. He praised Chinese leader Xi Jinping, suggested a temporary pause on Taiwan‑related arms sales, and approved the export of advanced Nvidia chips to China, signaling a shift toward cooperation even as the Pentagon list raises new security concerns.
