Trump discusses MOAB usage and U.S. policy on Brazil

In a recent interview, Donald Trump addressed reports regarding the potential use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), often called the ‘mother of all bombs,’ against Iran. Trump clarified that the weapon is non-nuclear, describing it as ‘an extremely large bomb’ that is ‘like a small nuclear bomb’ but not actually nuclear. Military planning documents suggest the MOAB could be used to target Iranian nuclear facilities and energy infrastructure, such as the heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain, though experts question if its blast power can effectively destroy deep underground installations.

Separately, the U.S. Department of State issued a letter supporting the right of Brazilian citizens to hold free and fair elections. The document defends existing sanctions against Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, citing evidence of ‘grave human rights violations’ and abuse of power. Additionally, the U.S. government reaffirmed the classification of the criminal factions Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) as terrorist organizations.
