Trump-Endorsed Andy Biggs Wins Arizona GOP Gubernatorial Primary
Arizona’s Republican primary on Tuesday saw President Donald Trump’s endorsed candidates sweep the top contests. Andy Biggs, a longtime House Freedom Caucus chairman, won the gubernatorial primary with roughly 72% of the vote, defeating Rep. David Schweikert after Trump shifted his backing from businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson to Biggs. The two open U.S. House seats also went to Trump‑endorsed Republicans.
The victories underline Trump’s continuing sway over Arizona’s conservative base, a state that flipped from a razor‑thin Biden win in 2020 to a solid Trump margin in 2024. Democrats retain the governorship with incumbent Katie Hobbs and hold both Senate seats, setting the stage for a competitive general election later this year.
