Super Intelligence Force established by Trump to lead US AI policy

President Donald Trump has established the Super Intelligence Force (SIF), a new federal task force designed to coordinate the United States' strategy regarding advanced artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to ensure American leadership in the field while protecting national interests. The administration has also issued an executive order to officially replace the terms ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘AI’ with ‘Super Intelligence’ and ‘SI’ across all executive branch operations.

Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton has been appointed to lead the SIF, effectively serving as the administration’s AI czar. The leadership team includes Andrew Ferguson, Emil Michael, and Scott Kupor. The task force is mandated to deliver a comprehensive report within 120 days examining the risks, opportunities, and federal responsibilities associated with super intelligence. This includes reviewing cybersecurity threats, such as hacks and model jailbreaks, and assessing existing reporting mechanisms.

The formation of the SIF follows the ‘Historic White House Accord on Super Intelligence,’ a voluntary agreement signed by leaders of major technology companies. This accord commits the sector to internal controls, oversight, and auditing to reinforce security without imposing restrictive government regulations that could hinder innovation or competitive advantage against rivals like China.
