Trump faces midterm shifts and domain surge following AI rename

President Donald Trump is facing low approval ratings and shifting political landscapes as midterm elections approach. According to the Cook Political Report, Democrats are currently favored to win the House, with a projected net gain of five to 15 seats. The Senate has also seen a shift toward Democrats, with six seats moving in their direction since June.

Trump’s approval rating currently sits at 37%, a figure tied for the lowest pre-midterm approval in the last half-century. Additionally, a recent NPR/PBS News/Marist poll indicated that 53% of respondents strongly disapprove of his performance.

Separately, Trump’s directive to replace the term ‘artificial intelligence’ with ‘super intelligence’ has caused a massive surge in domain registrations. Following an executive order requiring federal agencies to use the new term, Slovenia’s .si domain registry recorded over 20,000 new registrations in a single 24-hour period. Security firm Netcraft noted that many of these registrations are being prepared for resale on the aftermarket.
