Trump foreign policy linked to rising US living costs

Donald Trump’s foreign policy approach and tariff campaigns are increasingly being linked by voters to rising living costs in the United States. A Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that approximately 78% of Americans blame Trump’s policies for price increases that outpace income growth.

Economic pressures, including high fuel and grocery prices, are creating significant political risks for the Republican Party ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Analysts suggest that voters may use the upcoming elections to express dissatisfaction with the administration's handling of international affairs and their direct economic consequences.

In an effort to mitigate rising fuel costs, Trump has taken controversial steps, such as lifting sanctions on Russian diesel exports. Critics, including some Republicans, argue these actions suggest a bias toward Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine. Additionally, the administration has pressured Kyiv to cease strikes on Russian refineries to manage domestic gasoline prices.
