Trump lauds JD Vance's anti‑fraud task force, says fraud finds could balance budget

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social praising Vice President JD Vance, whom he called the administration’s “fraud czar.” Trump asserted that Republican officials are uncovering “billions of dollars” in fraud and waste and that, if all fraud were identified, it could balance the federal budget and allow further tax cuts.

The Vance‑led anti‑fraud task force, created by executive order in March, has reported nearly $6.3 billion in potentially fraudulent government contracts and has required about 400 businesses to prove their legitimacy. The task force’s investigations have included alleged fraudulent hospice operations in Los Angeles and other cases in Minneapolis and Maine. Trump accused Democrats of obstructing these efforts, suggesting they have a vested interest in hiding fraud.

Vance, who has been highlighted as a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028, continues to oversee nationwide fraud‑bust activities as part of the administration’s broader effort to reduce spending and strengthen oversight.
