Trump Media stock hits record low as losses exceed $400 million
Trump Media & Technology Group's shares fell to an all‑time low this week, trading around $7.05 per share on the Nasdaq under the DJT ticker. The decline follows a first‑quarter net loss of more than $400 million and total revenue of less than $1 million, pushing the stock down over 40% year‑to‑date and about 56% over the past year.
Analysts cite the company's heavy investments in cryptocurrency, a failed prediction‑market venture, and a “bizarre and unexpected” merger with fusion‑energy firm TAE Technologies as contributors to investor skepticism. Earlier this year the firm also lost its chief executive, former GOP Rep. Devin Nunes, and abandoned plans to spin off Truth Social into a separate public company.
The plunge occurs amid broader doubts about the viability of Truth Social, the platform that generates only a few million dollars in advertising revenue despite a market capitalization near $2 billion. The sharp drop has drawn regulatory attention, with complaints filed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over alleged market manipulation of the DJT stock.
