Trump Media's Truth API Draws Insider Trading Concerns and SEC Scrutiny

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) plans to launch a paid "Truth API" that will deliver real‑time posts from the top ten accounts on Truth Social to institutional investors with millisecond latency. The service, slated for Aug. 1, 2026, could cost up to $100,000 per month for firms seeking a speed advantage in high‑frequency trading.

CNN anchor Dana Bash questioned the launch, asking, “How is this not insider trading?” and highlighting that President Trump holds a 40% stake in TMTG. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D‑NY) wrote to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins urging a review of the product, stating, “Presidential communications ... should not become a premium financial product that gives wealthy institutions a millisecond advantage over retail investors.” The Trump administration dismissed the allegations as “absolutely absurd.”

Analysts see the API as a pivot toward enterprise SaaS revenue for a company that posted $3.68 million in 2025 revenue but remains deeply loss‑making. Critics argue the feed could create market‑fairness concerns, while TMTG asserts it merely provides faster access to publicly available data.
