Trump orders warning signs at Washington's National Museum of American History

President Donald J. Trump directed federal agents to install temporary warning panels on the approaches to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. The signs, in multiple languages, tell visitors that the museum’s exhibitions contain "false or inaccurate information" and advise them to seek history elsewhere.

The move follows a 162‑page report commissioned by the White House that accuses the Smithsonian of promoting a "radical" and "woke" view of American history, claiming the institution downplays Christianity’s role and emphasizes negative aspects such as slavery and indigenous genocide. The same anti‑woke stance has led to the removal of the director of the National Portrait Gallery earlier this year.

The panels were placed on Friday, marking a visible escalation in Trump’s campaign to challenge cultural institutions he perceives as ideologically biased.
