Trump peace plan for Gaza requires Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal
A proposed peace plan by U.S. President Donald Trump aims to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip through a 15-point roadmap developed by a Peace Council. The plan requires the immediate cessation of all military operations and conditions the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory upon the disarmament of Hamas and other armed militias.
Hamas negotiator Jalil al-Haya has reaffirmed the group's commitment to this plan during meetings in Egypt. The roadmap also envisions the establishment of a new technocratic government, known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, to oversee civil governance and the decommissioning of weapons, tunnels, and military production sites.
Despite Hamas's stated support for the framework, Israel has rejected the terms. Israel maintains that it will not withdraw from Gaza until the complete disarmament of Hamas is achieved, while Hamas insists that Israeli withdrawal must precede the surrender of weapons. Mediators including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey continue to facilitate discussions as diplomatic efforts persist.
