Trump says China tried to influence 2020 US election

Former President Donald Trump claimed that the Chinese government attempted to sway the 2020 United States presidential election in favor of Joe Biden. He said Chinese officials sought out U.S. journalists who criticized Trump, offering them large sums of money to produce anti‑Trump articles, and even tried to manufacture illegal ballots for Biden. Trump cited unpublished CIA and NSA reports and FBI intelligence obtained in 2020, noting that many of those documents were allegedly omitted from presidential briefings.

He emphasized that the effort was motivated by retaliation for the tariffs and military expansion he imposed on China, stating that “we have the strongest military on the planet.” The president said the source of the statements was under verification but presented the claims as evidence of Chinese interference in the American electoral process.
