Trump threatens 300% tariffs on foreign firms not building U.S. factories

During a campaign rally in Ohio, Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs of up to 300% on foreign companies that refuse to build factories within the United States. He stated that the U.S. provides a roughly 18-month window for companies to establish domestic manufacturing, after which tariffs would increase in increments of 150%, 200%, 250%, and 300%.

Trump justified these measures by claiming that countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Canada have used tariffs against the U.S. in the past. He specifically addressed South Korea, suggesting that if the country does not invest in the Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, the U.S. would increase charges or tariffs against them.

The visit to Ohio, a critical battleground state for the upcoming midterm elections, was part of a broader tour to support Republican candidates. Trump emphasized that a Republican victory would lead to unprecedented economic success, promising that citizens would see significant financial gains.
