US‑Saudi Civil Nuclear Deal Linked to Abraham Accords

President Donald Trump announced that a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia will only be approved if Saudi Arabia joins the Abraham Accords and normalises relations with Israel. Trump posted on Truth Social that the deal "will be approved, but is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords" and that it will not permit uranium enrichment.

The agreement was signed by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, establishing a multiyear partnership for peaceful nuclear power. It must be reviewed by Congress, and critics warn it could enable Saudi nuclear capability that might be diverted to weapons, especially given regional rivalry with Iran. The condition tying the deal to Israeli normalisation was unexpected by the nuclear negotiating team and has drawn criticism from U.S., Israeli and regional observers.
