Trump Tower project launched in Tbilisi, Georgia
A launch ceremony was held in Tbilisi to unveil the Trump Tower project, a planned 62-storey, 282-meter-high skyscraper. The project is part of the Downtown Tbilisi development, a larger $2 billion initiative involving six skyscrapers expected to be completed by 2033. The Trump Organization is licensing its brand to local developers, including Archi Group, Biograpi Living (Invia group), Finvest Georgia, Blox Group, and the New York-based Sapir Organization. The tower is projected for completion by 2031.
Reports indicate the project is being developed on land purchased from a fund linked to Bidzina Ivanishvili, a US-sanctioned billionaire. The development comes amid shifting geopolitical dynamics in Georgia, as the country has faced criticism regarding democratic backsliding and a perceived move closer to Moscow while its EU accession process has stalled. The ceremony was attended by Georgian Dream leaders, including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and featured remote remarks from Eric Trump.
