Trump Truth Social API faces lawsuit over paid trader access

A federal lawsuit has been filed against Donald Trump and his associates, alleging that a paid service provided by Truth Social gives Wall Street traders an unfair advantage. The service, known as the Truth API, reportedly allows paying customers to access President Trump’s posts up to $100,000 per month, providing them with millisecond-level priority over the general public.

The plaintiffs, including The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, argue in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York that the arrangement is ‘extraordinary, corrupt, and unconstitutional.’ The lawsuit claims the service violates the First Amendment’s principle of equal access to presidential statements and the Fifth Amendment regarding unreasonable charges for government benefits.

Trading firms may use this speed advantage to react to market-moving announcements regarding tariffs, foreign policy, and economic regulations before retail investors. Since the API's launch on August 1, posts concerning international relations and energy policy have been identified as topics capable of shifting stocks, currencies, and commodities.
