Donald Trump uses French unrest as campaign warning for US midterms

During campaign rallies in Kansas and North Carolina, US President Donald Trump has utilized the recent violent protests in France as a political tool to warn American voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Trump claimed that France is being “conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and communists” who he alleges hate Christianity and Western civilization.

Trump suggested that if Democrats win the midterms, the United States could face similar scenes of destruction, including “burning steeples and raging fires.” He also criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s immigration policies, claiming Paris will soon become a “Muslim city” and urging Europe to close its borders to prevent national collapse.

While the unrest in France was driven by grievances regarding the cost of living, inflation, and public services, Trump has framed the situation as a consequence of mass migration. In contrast, some analysts and media outlets have characterized his remarks as “fearmongering” intended to drive Republican voter turnout.
