Trump warns of US pullback from Russia agreements and urges Zelensky to step up attacks

At the G7 summit in France, US President Donald Trump expressed strong annoyance with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said the United States might withdraw from the so‑called "Ankora" agreements discussed in Alaska last summer. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that "there was no agreement in Alaska – there was a proposal, but not an agreement," contradicting Kremlin claims of a signed deal.

Trump also met privately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, publicly stating that Ukraine is now "winning" the war and encouraging Zelensky to adopt a more aggressive stance against Russia. Following the meeting, Ukraine launched a massive drone offensive targeting Russian energy and industrial facilities, including a major refinery in Moscow that is expected to remain offline until 2027. Putin acknowledged the damage but warned that Russia will negotiate only on its own terms.

The developments underscore heightened tensions between the United States, Russia and Ukraine and could influence future diplomatic and military dynamics in the ongoing conflict.
