Trump's approval falls to 35% as inflation tops voter concerns

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted June 3‑8 with 4,531 U.S. adults shows President Donald Trump receiving only 35 % approval and 63 % disapproval. Inflation and high prices are identified as the biggest burdens, with just 21 % approving his handling of rising costs and 22 % supporting his overall approach to living‑expense issues. Economic topics rank lowest among his policy ratings, while immigration, crime and foreign policy obtain slightly higher but still modest support.

The survey also reflects the political landscape ahead of the 2026 midterm elections: 35 % of respondents say they would vote for Democratic congressional candidates, compared with 31 % for Republicans, and 15 % remain undecided. The results suggest a challenging environment for Trump and the Republican Party as they seek to maintain congressional majorities.

Analysts note that midterm elections traditionally serve as a referendum on the sitting president, and the low approval figures could translate into reduced legislative leverage for the administration in the coming two years.
