Denmark to station conscripts in Greenland as US annexation talk resurfaces

At the same time, a Trump‑appointed official, Thomas Dans, chairman of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission, told The New Yorker that U.S. control of Greenland could “bring back all‑you‑can‑eat shrimp at Red Lobster,” linking the strategic debate over Arctic sovereignty to a potential boost for the struggling restaurant chain. Dans’ comment has drawn mockery but underscores ongoing U.S. pressure on Denmark regarding Greenland’s strategic location and natural resources.
