Federal Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the removal of former President Donald Trump’s name from the façade of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The court rejected a last‑minute emergency request from the Justice Department, which had cited severe weather as a reason to delay the work.

During a night‑time operation lasting about 30 minutes, workers took down the metal letters that spelled “The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy” and restored the original wording. The decision follows a legal battle that began after the center’s board, appointed by Trump allies, attempted to rename the institution. Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty hailed the outcome, saying, “The rule of law has prevailed and democracy is vindicated.”
