Truong Ngoc Anh's role modified with AI in new film

The film ‘Mãi nợ một lời tạm biệt’ (formerly titled ‘Chiếc kén’) has undergone significant technical changes following the legal issues of actress and producer Truong Ngoc Anh. In November 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Police initiated criminal proceedings and detained Truong Ngoc Anh for ‘abuse of trust to appropriate property.’

To complete the theatrical version, the production team utilized AI, CGI, and voice replacement to modify her role. According to information released at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) 2026, the cost for these technical adjustments amounted to approximately 10% of the original production budget. Consequently, Truong Ngoc Anh’s name and image have been removed from the film’s new posters.

Directed by J. Robert Schulz, the film is inspired by the life of Vietnamese-American artist Daniel K. Winn. It stars Kieu Chinh and Daniel K. Winn, following the story of a character named Den and his connection to his Vietnamese roots.
