Trusco Nakayama's Do Hiemon Box cooling booths sold across Japan

Japanese company Trusco Nakayama has marketed the Do Hiemon Box, a stainless‑steel “human refrigerator” that cools occupants to about 15 °C and blows 5 °C air jets. Priced at ¥1.5 million (≈US$9,500), roughly 200 units have been sold to steel mills, construction sites, golf courses, universities and leisure venues since the product launched earlier this year.

The booths are intended for locations without easy access to air‑conditioning and aim to prevent heat‑related illnesses as Japan’s summer temperatures regularly exceed 35 °C. Following the recent Kumamoto earthquake, Trusco dispatched units to evacuation shelters. Demand has risen sharply, with inquiries from Germany and the United States, and the company expects further sales to shopping malls, festivals and other crowded venues as tighter heat‑stroke regulations boost market momentum.
