TrustPoint demonstrates C-band signals capable of overcoming GPS jamming
TrustPoint has successfully demonstrated that its C-band navigation signals can maintain precise positioning even when Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, such as GPS, are subject to interference or jamming. The test was conducted under a U.S. Navy research contract through the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division for the Naval Air Systems Command.
To ensure the technology could be used by existing users, TrustPoint collaborated with the Swedish technology group Hexagon and its subsidiary NovAtel. The demonstration utilized an enhanced receiver from NovAtel to acquire, track, and process C-band signals on an established commercial platform rather than requiring entirely new specialized hardware.
While the results mark a significant benchmark for resilient positioning in contested electromagnetic environments, specific technical details regarding the level of jamming power, position error margins, and the duration of the connection have not yet been released. This technology is intended to complement rather than replace GPS, providing a reliable alternative for military aircraft, autonomous platforms, and aviation when conventional satellite signals are degraded by electronic warfare.
