Truxton Extreme Release and Expedition 33 Switch 2 Port Challenges Highlight Gaming Development

Truxton Extreme Expedition 33 Nintendo Switch 2 Tatsujin Unreal Engine 5

Tatsujin’s reboot of the classic 1988 shoot‑em‑up, Truxton Extreme, launched this Thursday with updated visuals, a new score by original composer Masahiro Yuge, and multiple play modes for newcomers and veterans. The game is available on current consoles and a physical Switch 2 version is being pursued by fans.

Developers of the RPG Expedition 33 explained that a Nintendo Switch 2 port would be a "big technical challenge" because the upcoming console is less powerful than the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X and many Unreal Engine 5 features are not compatible. They noted that the new Lumen Lite rendering option could help, but no firm plans have been announced.
