TRX suspension training uses body weight for full-body workouts
TRX, or total resistance exercise, is a suspension training system that utilizes body weight and gravity to provide resistance. The system consists of adjustable straps anchored to a secure point, such as a wall or doorway, ending in handles for hands or foot supports.
Exercise physiologist Christopher Travers of the Cleveland Clinic notes that these trainers allow for full-body workouts even in limited spaces. Because the straps move during use, the user must maintain constant stabilization and body alignment, which engages the core and improves balance.
Difficulty levels can be adjusted without adding weights by simply changing the body's angle relative to the anchor point. Increasing the inclination by moving the feet further from the anchor point makes exercises more demanding, while decreasing the inclination makes them more accessible.
