Tryavna extends emergency status near EMKO ammunition warehouse

The Tryavna Municipality has extended the partial state of emergency near the EMKO Ltd. ammunition warehouse for an additional 30 days, effective from August 13. The measure covers a 500-meter radius around the facility located near the village of Belitsa in the Stanchov Han area.

This extension is intended to ensure public safety as specialized teams continue clearing the area. Although the initial forest fire caused by the August 10 explosions has been controlled, unexploded remnants remain in nearby forests and agricultural lands, posing an immediate threat to life and health.

The original incident involved an explosion at an ammunition warehouse, which triggered a fire and prompted the activation of the BG-ALERT system. While no injuries were reported, the explosions caused a forest fire that spread toward the village of Svirtsi before being contained. Authorities noted that while specialized teams have conducted controlled detonations of identified munitions, the cleanup and securing of the site are still ongoing. The extension of the state of emergency will not require the closure of national or municipal roads.
