TSA intercepts pocketknife hidden in toothpaste at Dallas Love Field
TSA officers at Dallas Love Field discovered a small pocketknife concealed inside a tube of toothpaste during a security screening on September 22.
A screener identified metal near toiletries on an X-ray and requested assistance from a training instructor. After a second pass through the machine, the instructor located the knife within the toothpaste tube.
The travelers, a married couple, stated that their son had suggested hiding the knife in the tube to evade security rules. The couple voluntarily surrendered the item and was permitted to proceed with their flight. Federal Security Director Amy Williams described the incident as “exactly the type of threat our officers are trained to identify and resolve.”
