TSA warns of common airport security mistakes causing delays

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued warnings regarding common mistakes that cause delays during airport security screenings in the United States. Officials noted that certain preparation errors, particularly among older travelers, can lead to longer wait times and additional security checks.

Key issues identified include poorly stowed medications, inaccessible travel documents, and failure to report medical implants in a timely manner. To avoid delays, the TSA recommends keeping medications in an easily accessible, clearly labeled compartment of carry-on luggage and having relevant prescriptions ready.

For medications requiring cooling, travelers are advised to use reusable gel ice packs, which must be completely frozen when passing through security. Items that do not meet these requirements may be subject to disposal or must be moved to checked luggage if time permits.
