Tsai Ing-wen to Head Campaign Headquarters for Taitung Candidate Chen Ying

Former President Tsai Ing-wen has agreed to serve as the chairperson of the campaign headquarters for Chen Ying, the Democratic Progressive Party candidate for Taitung County magistrate. Chen welcomed Tsai’s involvement, saying it brings "unity" to the campaign and signals strong party cohesion. The campaign team also appointed Liu Zhaoxiao as the chief executive of the headquarters. Tsai’s participation follows her long‑standing interest in Taitung, having visited all 16 townships during her presidency, and is intended to boost development and voter support in the eastern region.

The move underscores the DPP’s effort to consolidate support ahead of the 2026 local elections, positioning the Taitung race as a showcase of party unity and high‑level endorsement.
