Tsai Yi-yu urges rapid implementation of Chiayi infrastructure projects

Legislator Tsai Yi-yu is pushing for the accelerated implementation of major infrastructure projects in Chiayi following the passage of the central government's general budget. During a session with the Legislative Yuan's Economic Committee, Tsai focused on three primary areas: flood control, traditional market renovations, and drone industry development.

Regarding flood prevention, Tsai emphasized the urgency of water control projects, such as the Nan-jing and Liu-jiao drainage systems, to protect residents from seasonal flooding. He called on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Water Resources Agency to ensure stable funding and close coordination with local government to prevent delays in these large-scale engineering works.

On the issue of public safety and local commerce, Tsai highlighted the deteriorating condition of traditional markets in areas like Suantou and Puzi. He urged the central government to prioritize budget allocations for upgrading market facilities, including ventilation, lighting, and structural safety, to prevent hazards like falling ceilings.

Finally, Tsai advocated for the expansion of the drone industry by accelerating the approval of the second phase of the Asia S&T Innovation Park. He also proposed utilizing Budai Port as a testing ground for large-scale unmanned aerial and maritime vehicles to foster a complete industrial cluster in the region.
