Tsakane Matlala granted bail in Gauteng property fraud case
Tsakane Matlala, the wife of businessman Vusimusi ‘Cat’ Matlala, and three co-accused have been granted bail of R20,000 each following their arrest in connection with a fraud investigation in Gauteng.
The case involves allegations that fraudulent documents were used to secure a luxury property lease in the Waterkloof area of Pretoria, with reports suggesting approximately R1.2 million was paid upfront. National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed the arrests, noting that the investigation also covers the alleged fraudulent acquisition of various properties across Gauteng and potential misuse of documents to obtain citizenship in Eswatini.
While the three co-accused were released on bail, Vusimusi Matlala remains in custody at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre. He is currently facing a separate high-profile trial involving 25 charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and money laundering. The new fraud matter has been postponed to 29 October for further proceedings.
