Ötscher region offers hiking through the Austrian Grand Canyon

The area surrounding Mount Ötscher in Austria offers diverse hiking opportunities suitable for both families and experienced hikers. Often referred to as the Austrian Grand Canyon, the region features a network of trails passing through waterfalls, historical technical monuments, and remote mountain settlements.

One notable route begins at the Ötscher-Basis nature park in Wienerbruck and follows the Wienerbruck reservoir to the Lassingfall waterfall. The path continues through the narrow Lassingbach gorge to the Kaiserthron viewpoint, which provides panoramas of the Ötschergräben gorges and Mount Ötscher. The trail then traverses mountain meadows near the Kollerbauer farm before returning to Wienerbruck.
