Deltan Dallagnol Senate candidacy suspended by TSE President
The candidacy of Deltan Dallagnol for the Senate in Paraná has become the subject of intense legal dispute within the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). On the eve of the 2026 elections, Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques issued a monocratic decision to deny Dallagnol's registration. The ruling cited ineligibility under Complementary Law No. 64/1990, asserting that Dallagnol's 2021 resignation from the Federal Public Ministry was a fraudulent attempt to avoid disciplinary sanctions and subsequent ineligibility.
Minister Floriano's decision also ordered that all votes cast for Dallagnol's majoritarian slate be considered null. However, on the morning of the election, TSE President Kassio Nunes Marques suspended this individual ruling, arguing that a monocratic decision so close to the polls was unreasonable and could cause operational chaos in the counting process.
As a result, Dallagnol's name remains on the electronic voting machines, and his votes will be counted for now. The final validity of his candidacy and the status of the votes will depend on a future decision by the full TSE plenary.
