TSE President Nunes Marques addresses judicial tension amid election fraud cases

Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice and Superior Electoral Court (TSE) President Kassio Nunes Marques addressed the public following a period of tension within the judiciary. His remarks follow a contentious STF session regarding a potential investigation into Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The period was marked by internal friction, including leaked messages from Justice Gilmar Mendes directed at Nunes Marques and Luiz Fux. Additionally, Nunes Marques had declared himself recused from certain proceedings due to his role at the TSE and potential electoral repercussions.

Separately, the TSE agenda includes the judgment of 11 processes related to the 2024 municipal elections. Key cases involve allegations of gender quota fraud in Araucária, Paraná, where a candidate reportedly registered as a woman despite presenting publicly as a man, and legal challenges involving officials in Niterói and Macapá.
