Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Completes Acquisition of Elements Casino Chilliwack
The Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe, representing seven First Nations communities in British Columbia's Fraser Valley, finalized the purchase of Elements Casino Chilliwack on July 28, 2026. The deal, first announced in November 2025, transfers ownership from Great Canadian Entertainment, which has operated the casino since its 2012 opening. Chief David Jimmie, president of Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd., described the transaction as a “transformational milestone” that will generate revenue for community development, job creation and broader economic participation. The casino features more than 300 slot machines, live and electronic table games, bingo, dining and live entertainment. Great Canadian Entertainment’s CEO Matt Anfinson said the company will provide transitional services to ensure a smooth handover and praised the new Indigenous owners as strong stewards of the business. The acquisition is part of a wider trend of First Nations groups buying gaming assets in British Columbia, following earlier sales of River Rock Casino Resort, Great Canadian Casino Vancouver and other properties.
