Tőserdő resort faces decay amid regional development disparities

The Tőserdő resort area in Bács-Kiskun county is facing significant decay and infrastructure challenges. Once a major recreational hub for residents of Kecskemét and surrounding regions, the area is currently struggling with deteriorating conditions, including poor road access and inadequate railway facilities at the Árpádszállás stop.

Local community representatives, including József Palotás, are advocating for long-term development plans. Proposed improvements include sewage systems, road paving, and the modernization of the thermal bath to allow for year-round operation. Such upgrades are estimated to require investments ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of forints.

This decline stands in stark contrast to the nearby Hungarikum Liget, a massive national experience center established by Sándor Lezsák, which requires billions of forints in annual maintenance. While Tőserdő remains a site for nature-based camps, residents and visitors express concern over the lack of investment compared to major state-funded projects.
