TSG Hoffenheim defeats Olympique Lyon 3-0 in Europa League
TSG Hoffenheim secured their first points of the UEFA Europa League season with a decisive 3-0 victory over Olympique Lyon at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim. The win follows two previous losses for the Bundesliga side against OFI Kreta and Beşiktaş.
Andrej Kramarić opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time with a header following a long throw-in. In the second half, Adam Daghim doubled the lead in the 49th minute, and Adam Hložek completed the scoring in the 83rd minute, both goals assisted by Kramarić.
Lyon, currently leading Ligue 1, fielded a rotated squad as manager Paulo Fonseca sought to manage player workloads ahead of a high-stakes match against Paris Saint-Germain. The defeat marks Lyon's first loss in the Europa League this season, causing them to drop to 12th place in the league phase standings.
The match was also marked by a significant injury to Lyon defender Steeve Kango, who was forced off on a stretcher following a collision with Tim Lemperle in the 25th minute.
