Tsigov Charak: 292 kg of unfit food seized during inspections
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) seized 292 kilograms of unfit food products during inspections in the Tsigov Charak resort area near the Batak Reservoir. The operation, conducted by the Pazardzhik Regional Food Safety Directorate, targeted hotels with restaurants and various public catering establishments.
Inspectors identified several critical violations, including batches of food with expired shelf lives prepared for service and products lacking mandatory commercial documentation, labels, or traceability regarding their origin. Additionally, the inspections revealed gross violations of sanitary and hygiene standards in food processing and storage areas.
Personnel issues were also noted, with kitchen staff working without valid health certificates and managers failing to provide required technological and reporting documentation. As a result of these findings, authorities issued five mandatory instructions for corrective actions and are filing six administrative violation reports, which will lead to financial sanctions.
