Tsinghua University admits first Brazilian student to Ziqiang College
Luís Henrique Nascimento Guimarães, a 17-year-old from Manaus, Brazil, has become the first Brazilian admitted to the Ziqiang College at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is part of the university's Class of 2030.
Established in May 2025, Ziqiang College focuses on 'Future and Smart Energy,' an interdisciplinary approach that integrates energy, engineering, information technology, smart technologies, and artificial intelligence. The program aims to move away from traditional departmental divisions to provide personalized training for future technological and energetic challenges.
Guimarães' interest in Tsinghua began in 2015 while he was seven years old and attending primary school in Shanghai. Having lived in China since childhood, he has been immersed in an academic environment that emphasizes science and technology.
