TSMC growth outlook driven by AI demand and AMD expansion

TSMC is positioned for significant growth driven by the AI sector, with analysts projecting potential revenue reaching 7.6 trillion TWD next year. While NVIDIA remains a primary driver, AMD is emerging as a critical factor. AMD CEO Lisa Su has indicated a shift toward longer-term capacity planning of three to five years to meet exploding CPU and AI agent demand.

Market analysts suggest AMD's contribution to TSMC could rise from approximately 9% to 12% next year. This growth is supported by a projected surge in CoWoS advanced packaging orders, with AMD's CoWoS wafer volume expected to more than double from 150,000 to 470,000 units. This expansion follows AMD's acquisition of ZT Systems, which allows for integrated sales of CPUs, GPUs, and networking chips.

Beyond semiconductor manufacturing, the AI ecosystem is driving demand for hardware upgrades. Key focus areas include advanced thermal management solutions to handle increased chip power consumption and optical interconnects for high-speed communication. As AI platforms like NVIDIA's Rubin evolve, the demand for optical engines and specialized components is expected to grow significantly.
