Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra displays red spot defect, company launches investigation

Multiple users of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra have reported a distinct reddish patch in the centre of the phone’s display, sharing photos on forums and social media. Samsung confirmed the issue, with a spokesperson telling the Korean magazine Newsway that the company is conducting an internal analysis and attempting to reproduce the defect. The problem appears in both personal devices and retail stock.

Analysts speculate the cause may be linked to the new “Privacy Display” technology, which dims side‑pixels to prevent side‑viewing and could create uneven pixel stress, or it could be a case of OLED burn‑in. Samsung said the investigation will determine whether a software update can resolve the issue or if a hardware repair or full device replacement will be required.
