TSMC reports record August revenue surge driven by AI demand

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) reported record monthly revenue for August, reaching 514.8 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately $16.35 billion). This represents a 53.3% increase compared to the same month last year and a 10.1% rise from July, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth for the company.

The revenue surge is attributed to sustained demand for chips used in artificial intelligence applications. TSMC maintains a dominant position in the global foundry market, holding a 72.5% market share as of the second quarter. The company reported that its advanced manufacturing capacity for 5-, 4-, and 3-nanometer nodes remained fully utilized.

Additionally, TSMC and ASML have announced an initiative to advance next-generation chipmaking technology. TSMC plans to integrate ASML’s High NA technology into large-scale manufacturing for advanced nodes starting in 2030 to meet the increasing complexity of transistor designs required by AI.
