Tsubasa Imai discusses new concert and independence

Singer Tsubasa Imai attended a press conference in Osaka for his upcoming concert, ‘TSUBASA IMAI Live 2026 Treasure’, which is scheduled to begin in Yokohama on October 16. The concert will feature songs from his former duo, Tackey & Tsubasa, including ‘Yumemonogatari’ and ‘Venus’, some of which he has not performed in approximately 20 years.

Imai discussed his evolving relationship with former partner Hideaki Takizawa, noting that while Takizawa works in his own field, they remain connected through their music. Imai expressed his intention to continue his work as a performer, drawing inspiration from Takizawa’s creative direction.

Marking a significant personal and professional transition, Imai recently became independent from Shochiku Entertainment on October 1, ahead of his 45th birthday on October 17. He noted a shift in his approach to performing, moving toward a style that allows for more “margin” and less intense pressure compared to his younger years.
