Tsurugi Database Demonstrates Low‑Latency Distributed AI Processing in Japan

Nautilus Technologies, Inc., Internet Initiative Japan Inc., TEPCO Power Grid, Inc., Chubu Electric Power Grid, Fujitsu Limited and 1Finity Inc. launched a joint proof‑of‑concept to test next‑generation distributed AI processing. Funded under the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization’s (NEDO) study on low‑latency distributed processing, the project aims to realise the “Watt‑Bit Convergence Vision” that links electricity grids and telecommunications.

An All‑Photonics Network will combine optical fiber owned by TEPCO and Chubu Electric with communications equipment from Fujitsu and 1Finity. GPU servers placed at two separate locations will be synchronised to process real‑time 4K video and telemetry from the final race of the KYOJO CUP at Fuji Speedway. The demonstration will assess whether low‑latency, distributed AI can flexibly adjust to electricity demand and balance power consumption across the grid.
