TSUZUMI and Onoe Matsuya cast as Japanese voices for Disney’s live‑action Moana
A special Tokyo event on 23 June announced the Japanese voice cast for Disney’s upcoming live‑action remake of Moana, scheduled for nationwide release on 31 July. Girl‑group member TSUZUMI of ME:I was selected as the Japanese voice of the title heroine, Moana, and performed the film’s theme “How Far I’ll Go” live on stage. The role of Maui will be voiced by Onoe Matsuya, who reprises his part from the animated version. TSUZUMI, a 19‑year‑old newcomer, said she was thrilled to sing and act as her favorite Disney heroine, while Matsuya expressed his commitment to the character. Disney’s U.S. headquarters praised TSUZUMI’s powerful singing. The event also featured a video message from original Japanese Moana voice‑actress Yawabe Kichina and showcased behind‑the‑scenes details of the production.
