Tsvetana Pironkova celebrates birthday

Bulgarian tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova is celebrating her birthday on September 13. Born in Plovdiv in 1987 to an athletic family, she rose to international prominence as the first Bulgarian woman to reach a Wimbledon semi-final in 2010.

During her career, Pironkova achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of 31. Her accolades include being named Bulgaria’s Athlete of the Year in 2020 and receiving the title of honorary citizen of Plovdiv at the age of 22. She has remained a consistent member of the Bulgarian Fed Cup team.
